Thoughts for the day

March 25, 2008

Namaste to all of you out there. I just happened to come across few of the quotes and I thought I shall share these with you.Smile

                                                                           ANURAG

1. By honest conduct one achieves honorable
   eminence,
While corrupt conduct brings one nothing but
   blame.

   Good conduct is the seed in virtue’ field;
Wicked conduct"s harvest is never ending
   sorrow.

                   Tirukkural 14:137-138

2. Having renounced every selfish desire,
He has found his rest in the lord of love.
Wisdom is the staff that supports him
   now.
Those who take a mendicant’s staff while
   they
Are still at the mercy of their senses
   Cannot escape enormous suffering.
The illuminated man knows this truth of
   life.

                    Paramahamsa Upanishad

 3. Indeed how wonderful,
    I adore myself.

    For I have taken form
    But I am still one.

    Neither coming nor going,
    Yet I am still everywhere.

                    Ashtavakra Gita 2:12

 4. In dark night those for whom,
    The world without alone is real;
    in night.
Darker still, for whom the world within
Alone is real. The first leads to a life
Of action, the second to the life of
    meditation.
But those who combine action with meditation
cross the sea of death through action
    And enter into mortality
    Through the practice of meditation.
So have we heard from the wise.

                    Isha Upanishad

5. Behold, Arjuna, a million divine forms, with
an infinite variety of color and shape. Behold
the gods of the natural world, and many more
wonders never revealed before.Behold the entire
cosmos turning within my body, and the other
   things you desire to see.

But these things cannot be seen with your
physical eyes;therefore I give you spiritual
vision to perceive my majestic power.

                    Bhagavad Gita  11:5-8

6. His divine power creates the magic show of name
and form and you and me; casting a smell of
   pleasure and pain.

                    Shevtashvatara  Upanishad

7. Brahman is indivisible and pure;
Realize Brahman and go beyond all change.
          He is immanent and trancendant
   Realizing him, sages  attain freedom
And  declare there are no separate minds.
They have but realized what they always are.

                    Amritabindu Upanishad

8. "In that state, free from attachment, they
move at will laughing, playing and rejoicing.
They know the Self is not this body but only
tied to it for a time as an ox is tied to its
    cart.

                    Chandogya Upanishad

9.  As the man and the woman in me
    unite in love,
     the brilliant beauty
     balanced on the two-petalled lotus
     within me
     dazzles my eyes.
     The rays
     outshine the moon
     and the jewels
glowing on the hoods of snakes.

     My skin and bone
     are turned to gold.
I am the reservoir of love
     alive as the waves.
     A single drop of water
     has grown into a sea,
     unnavigable.

                       Lalan

10. In the ocean of being
    There is only one.

There was and there will be
    Only one.

    You are already fulfilled.
How can you be bound or free?

    Wherever you go, 10
    Be happy.

               -Ashtavakra Gita 15:18

11. Though we may know Him by a thousand names,he  is one and the same to us all.

                -Mahatma Gandhi, 1926
